Labour Day Blues

What will it take to restore Labor Day to its roots? A lot more than you think. We now live in a time when trade union membership is declining, trade and labor unions are being systematically dismantled, and the wage bargaining power of workers is disappearing. Rather than being honoured on Labor Day, workers work harder than ever on this day, often for less than the paltry minimum wage. Meanwhile, workers in the fast food industry are fighting a losing battle for a living wage and better working conditions.
